In today’s world we are bombarded with so many things. We are constantly being influenced by people like friends and teachers or the media and advertising. Trying to process all this information can be overwhelming at times. Think about the conflict that may arise at school when you are taught about the evolution of mankind from monkeys and how this attempts to show that God does not exist. Or think about a friend you might have that believes that he or she can become a God or that Jesus was simply some cool guy with a beard who wore sandals.
The book of Colossians helps us, as Christians, to evaluate all this information being thrown at us. Smart people say, “The main thing is to keep the main thing, the main thing!” If you’re still following me after that, for us as Christians, Jesus Christ is the Main Thing! Jesus is all-sufficient and supreme. Colossians 1:17 says, “And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” All things is a lot of stuff, in fact it really does mean all things!
Please join us as we investigate how to make Christ supreme in our lives and how this will affect “all the things” that we do. We will be spending the next several weeks examining:
·How we can know that God exists?
·How we can know that He created the world?
·How can we know that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven?
·How to answer questions about other religions.
·The importance of turning our minds from worldly things to Heavenly things.
·The importance of humbly submitting to authority in our lives.
·The importance of being plugged in with other believers encouraging and fellowshipping with each other.
